Ah… That new toy smell! I’ve been wanting to get one for some time now, and have some ideas for web apps to write for it. Now to just get enough other, more pressing tasks out of the way first, and I can actually write them.
Never enough time in the day, I guess.
I’ve created a new WordPress theme for the site. I wanted it to have more of “my own” look and feel to it.
The site will probably undergo some tweaks with the new theme - there are things I know don’t work out quite correctly, and some things that I probably don’t know enough about CSS, PHP, WordPress, etc., to know that they’re incorrect.
Eventually I’d like my photo galleries to be entirely contained within the look of this site. Right now they’re all exported Aperture Web Gallery’s. I want to get away from that, and have a consistent look to the site.
I’m pretty pleased with the look, although there’s much I still need to do.
Got two book in the mail this morning from Amazon: Macro Photography (by Haje Jan Kamps, of PhotoCritic fame), and The Art & Science of CSS (by Cameron Adams, et al). The first I got for my interest in photography, the other since I’ve been considering a redesign of the sight (essentially making it my own, instead of a prepackaged WordPress theme), or at least to customize my photograph galleries (notice how they’re all using different themes? Aperture’s themes don’t all grab me the same, and I’d like to create something I can use consistently).
Now we’ll see how much time I have to work on it. Or if, in fact, I get ambitious enough to start…
Downloaded the MacOSX application, Journler today - trying it out now. Wheeee!
So, it’s been a long haul. Finally decided to revisit the site. Too much going on at work, in life, and at home. Apparently the cat thinks I’m yummy- he decided to knaw on my hand (he’s sitting right there purring while I pet him, then he decides to take a nibble).
Anyways…
Got the Cocoa in Carbon craziness out of the way. Now it’s the long haul towards the finish line for shipping SmartMusic. Too much stuff still up in the air. I’ve rewritten the Mac open dialog in Cocoa (quite a learning experience, that), and there are other things I’ve decided to rewrite rather than deal with difficult to track bugs in the existing (read: ancient) implementation.
Sounds like it. I’m looking forward to having a good laptop, but that will probably mean it’s easier to take work home with me. Particularly since I’ll be able to work on whatever platform we’re currently focusing on… Right now, we’re going to have a focus on Macs. I’ve been able to get some of the Mac work done without even being on a Mac (splitting resource files).
Hisssth… Whenever I chat with Gary at work about Python and Perl, the conversation tends to move towards the Parrot project, leading Allen to squawk. He seems strangely good at that…
Sinking my teeth into more Python code as a step towards taking on one of my desired projects. Perhaps this one will have some usefulness to work, although it’s similar to some Perl code we have out there and I’m not sure whether it could/would replace that.
